|Plot||Three interviews by filmmaker Millie Young with mahouts from Elephant Nature Park, an internationally acclaimed sanctuary for rescued elephants in Thailand, documenting their lives working with elephants. Diijaan is a Thai Karen and gives the historical perspective of a grandson who has inherited the job of a mahout and his elephants from his father. Siwa is a Burmese Karen who came to Thailand from Burma to meet his father, who had escaped the regime and come to Thailand to study in a Bible school. Buchoo, a Karen Primary School teacher, came to Thailand to work with elephants because his pay was too little to survive on in Burma. He faces the dilemma as his village back home is without a teacher. Each gives a characteristically modest personal perspective of their experiences with captive elephants and their grassroots accounts of the impact of the politics involved with elephants and being Karen hill tribe people in the current political climate on the Thai/Burmese borders. Millie Young has been researching about elephants in Thailand for the last seven years for her animation work ('Mere Wife' and 'Chang!') working with Richard Lair a world renown expert on Asian elephants at the National Institute of Elephants and with award winning conservationist Sangduen 'Lek' Chailert. Her work has brought her into contact with the Thai Elephant Orchestra, the Elephant Art Project, street begging elephants and all perspectives of the difficult situation now facing the elephants in Thailand, not least of all with the mahouts.... search for 3 Mahouts on Elephants: Light, God & Truth on IMDb|
