|Plot||Colin Clooney has been working in Hollywood for years; squeaking by on small roles and residuals. Peacefully left behind in the flip-phone age, Colin didn't realize how seven of his fellow actors were always getting the parts he was up for. One night, his best friend, Jimmy, forces him to attend a posh Hollywood party of big time producer, Hank Henry. Colin over hears Hank discussing his next film project called The Machine: the story of General Ludd and the Luddites. Colin,a self-professed neo-luddite is overlooked by Hank and doesn't understand the reason why until he discovers the new technology Hollywood is using to cast their productions. At the brink of despair, fate deals a hand in the form of a car crash and the demise of his number one adversary; A-lister Gerry Galloway. Colin comes to an epiphany; he must take down all those ranked ahead of himself (which includes his six remaining friends, to get the role that he was born to play). Colin reveals his plan to Jimmy, who decides to turn this caper into his screenplay masterpiece. The problem is, Colin is somewhat of a slacker and when push comes to shove, he really can't hurt anyone. But somehow, one by one they all mysteriously begin to die. Colin's agent gets him a day role on a hit TV show. When executive producer William Simpkin offers him a reoccurring role, he realizes this is all he ever wanted; just to be a working actor. He tells Jimmy he's out, but Jimmy won't take no for an answer. The screenplay isn't finished. It must have a third act! Jimmy continues to push Colin to the brink of sanity, convincing him that he was responsible for the deaths of his competition. Colin, being constantly stoned, isn't quite sure if he is responsible or not. He just wants to hit his mark, deliver his lines, get back to his chair in front of his TV and light up. The studio producing Hank Henry's film has him under the gun for a "hit"; his job on the line after two box office tanks in a row! As they realize the demise of each actor they offer the role to brings a "buzz" to the film, the studio realizes an opportunity that money couldn't buy. How many actors would have to die before no one would take the part. All but one! Colin promises Jimmy they will take a trip next weekend to Big Bear and he will help him finish the script. That is, if they don't kill each other first... for the sake of the film.... search for A Role to Die For on IMDb|
