Plot The top double-bass players from around the world compete in a week long competition which awards $30,000 and a recording contract to the first place winner. The story of the competition is told through interviews with the contestants as well as footage taken throughout the various levels of the competition. The story goes beyond the search for virtuosic musicianship but rather tells the story of the common human need to express oneself through the art of music. The final day of the competition features excerpts and interviews during each of the final four contestant's solo performance with a world-renowned orchestra in front of a packed house.
