|Plot||A documentary on the impact of Juliano Mer-Khamis, an artist and activist who lived and was killed for the cause of justice, humanity and empowering youth. Being with Juliano is not a biography of Juliano Mer-Khamis. It is a testament to what Juliano did to empower youth and give hope, so that his accomplishments will not die with him. The film gives voice to those who were inspired by his principles and devotion and stimulated by his energy and creativity. The focus of Being with Juliano is on the multiple dimensions of change Juliano brought to deprived and impoverished youth in Jenin, whose lives have been forever transformed by a theatre created in the midst of a refugee camp. Juliano Mer-Khamis, born in Nazareth in 1958, was the son of Saliba Khamis, a Palestinian political leader, and Arna Mer, a Jewish activist. In 2006, Juliano founded The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp, in continuation of his mother's Stone Theatre project there. The theatre was created with the goal of providing for the camp's youth a safe space where they could freely express themselves and explore their creativity and emotions through culture and art. Over the last six years of his life, Juliano produced and directed numerous plays at The Freedom Theatre. But it was there, on 4 April 2011, that he was shot to death. Although Juliano will be remembered as a talented stage and film actor, his most important legacy is his work with the people of Jenin.... search for Being with Juliano on IMDb|
