|Plot||In a mining region of rural Quebec, a family is torn by the threat of eviction. Christian refuses to abandon the family home, Sylvie can't take it anymore and leaves for the city with their son. Resistance has a price. Inspired by the conflict between mining company Osisko and the residents of a small Quebec town in the late 2000's, "Sandbox" is a poignant drama urgently calling for a reform of Quebec mining laws. Dating from the colonial era and inspired by North American free mining policies, the current mining laws allows any mining claim owner to evict whoever lives on the designated land. A vast popular movement has sprung in the last few years to protest against the anti-social and anti-ecological law. Inspired by Italian neorealism, "Sandbox" is slow placed and intense, slowly building up the shocking true story of a family having to choose between rational submission to power or civil disobedience against an illegitimate law. Brilliantly acted by an all-star Quebec cast, "Sandbox" is a riveting socio-political drama that captivates the audience up until its heartbreaking conclusion.... search for Carré de sable on IMDb|
