|Crooked Tongue is a 72 minute narrative feature, the story of a young adult male HIspanic with a speech defect, stuttering. It is his journey of personal discovery and redemption, helped or hindered along the way by his girl-friend, an alcoholic community college counselor, and a con-artist Native American shaman. Beto struggles with his speech problem, avoids speaking situations, and relies on others to talk for him. He experiences frustration and anger in his attempts to communicate. He finds some solace on top of the mountain and begins to think it has healing powers. He feels responsible for his grandfather's death and seeks out remedies for his problem. The story is told largely in a flashback style from the top of the mountain as he interacts with all the characters in the story. It is ultimately the triumph of the human will.|
