|Laura (Terry Farrell, TV's "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Becker") has been hired by a high school to teach classes and assist the girls basketball coach. The coach (Lawrence Dane, TV's "Queer As Folk") has a heart attack and Laura steps in to replace him. The team starts losing games and a player's father (Adrian Pasdar, Top Gun, TV's "Judging Amy") assults a referee. Laura's coaching doesn't meet with the town's approval. She adopts more assertive tactics, and the team rebounds with a five-game winning streak. |
Pressure affects the girls and Laura suspends two players after they are caught cheating on school tests. Violent behavior again erupts at halftime during the championship game and four parents are arrested. Rather than forfeit the title, Laura agrees to resume the game. The girls on the team refuse to take the court. Can the girls teach a lesson in sportsmanship to their coach, their parents, and the entire town . . . that winning isn't everything?
