|Plot||'Fraternity' explores the explosive relationship between two brothers growing up in the late 1930s and examines the tensions within the family unit. As a result of a freak incident on the farm where they live, Jake, the older more adventurous brother, is paralyzed leaving Greg, his younger more gentle brother, to go off to war. The narrative follows their separate lives as Greg experiences the horrors of combat and the inevitable loss of innocence while Jake, unable to move and express himself, watches his parents slowly destroy themselves as the truth about their failed marriage starts to unravels. The story is initially set in modern-day Cologne. Kurt and Gustav Guttenberg have no idea that they descend from this English farming family until their father reveals the connection, which he has kept secret for many years, in his will. 'Fraternity' examines several themes of bitter family relationships, entangled love and guilt, but the close bond between the Guttenburg brothers and their desire to lay to rest some of the ghosts which have haunted Greg all his life gives this extraordinary story an underlying bedrock of hope and human endurance.... search for Fraternity on IMDb|
