|Ingmar Bergman's first English language film is a sensitive drama about a triangle love affair that spans continents and cultures. David Kovak, an American archaeologist, falls in love with Karin, mother of two and wife of a local surgeon. Karin who lives a settled life with the kind and loving Andreas, becomes vulnerable to the volatile and magnetic David. A six-month absence by David only heightens their relationship which becomes an open affair upon his return. At last Andreas discovers the romance and the trio face the challenges of adjustment, accomodation and resolution.|
